Street Outreach Coordinator

Job Description

The street outreach coordinator will be responsible for managing the work done in the six different markets where CENIT's street outreach program takes place. Responsibilities include:

  • Train new volunteers with regard to the Street Outreach Program, providing the information necessary for their work in the program and information about how to work with children.
  • Motivate and encourage volunteers in the Street Outreach Program.
  • Work closely with the secretaries of each sector, supervising their work and making sure that they are completing their tasks in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Maintain and improve the street outreach curriculum (researching new activities, themes, etc.)
  • Keep an attendance list for street outreach volunteers, and talk with anyone who is not fulfilling the attendance obligations.
  • Arrive at CENIT every day by 9:00.
  • Attend the weekly secretaries meeting, currently Tuesdays at 8:30.
  • Have a weekly meeting with the volunteer coordinators.
  • Have weekly meetings with each street sector group.
  • Have a bi-weekly individual meeting with each volunteer involved in the Street Outreach Program to monitor progress, uncertainties, complaints, etc.
  • Coordinate activities with the two street outreach social workers and communicate to them specific cases of maltreatment, children not studying, etc.
  • Work to facilitate relationships amongst volunteers, and between volunteers and national staff.
  • Help with fundraising efforts for Street Outreach.

Qualifications

  • Belief in the organization's mission and understanding of the challenges and rewards of working in a non-profit, community-based organization.
  • Bachelor's degree or ability equal to that usually derived from an accredited college or university.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills, especially in regards to cross-cultural relations.
  • Strong facilitation and training abilities with knowledge of group dynamics and youth development.
  • Strong organizational skills: manage multiple priorities, work quickly and efficiently and work well under pressure. Strengths with managing people and delegating responsibilities amongst the volunteer staff.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Fluency in working and conversational Spanish required, as well as fluency in English, which is spoken by many of our volunteers.
  • A minimum of a one-year commitment.

Salary

This is a volunteer position without financial compensation.
