Adopt-a-Dream Coordinator

Job Description
The Adopt-a-Dream coordinator will be responsible for coordinating CENIT's sponsor parent scholarship program. The coordinator, on a regular basis, will be required to:
- Work closely with social workers to ensure that the children and families are receiving the maximum benefits from the program.
- Make house visits to the homes of children in the scholarship program.
- Write regular social and economic reports about each of the children in the program after each house visit and send them to the sponsor parents.
- Be responsible for making sure that each child regularly writes a card to their sponsor parent and that this and other relevant information, such as their report card, is sent to the sponsor.
- Keep in constant contact with sponsor families via email and letter, to ensure that the program runs smoothly.
- Meet bi-weekly with social workers and psychologists to discuss children currently in the program and identify potential new candidates for the program.
- Be responsible for each child's monthly budget, making sure that sponsor parents make payments regularly and making sure that the family of each child receives their allotted money monthly
- Keep accurate records of money spent, reporting to the director of CENIT on a monthly basis.
- Plan and supervise occasional outings with families.
- Supervise and train new volunteers to help with these activities.
- Conduct administrative and logistical planning.
- Report weekly to Volunteer Coordinators.
- Maintain relations with children and families involved in program to ensure that they are fulfilling their requirements.
- Write evaluations for volunteers leaving the program.
- Maintain a flexible schedule, including willingness to occasionally work on weekends.
Qualifications
- Belief in the organization's mission and understanding of the challenges and rewards of working in a non-profit, community-based organization.
- Bachelor's degree or ability equal to that usually derived from an accredited college or university, preferably in social sciences, education or communications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills, especially in regards to cross-cultural relations.
- Strong facilitation and training abilities with knowledge of group dynamics and youth development.
- Strong organizational skills: manage multiple priorities, work quickly and efficiently and work well under pressure.
- Experience in curriculum development is highly preferred.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Fluency in working and conversational Spanish required.
- A minimum of a one-year commitment.
Salary
This is a volunteer position without financial compensation.
